Competition entry for a new guest lodge and private cabins on the Gauteng-Limpopo border.
The chalets are constructed of local stone aggregate in timber board-marked off-shutter concrete and a lightweight frame with infill panels of glass and canvas wrapped sliding modules to create the mental association of camping while creating an atmosphere of five star luxury. Each unit is complimented by a large stone fireplace and a private splash pool. The main sleeping space opens up across a seamless timber deck to the wild natural landscape.
Similar themes are explored in the main lodge building which houses a restaurant, lounges, bars, reception area and spa.
